The International Beethoven Project

Everything we do is in some ways educational.  Our goals are always to Inspire, Educate, and Motivate!

Projects focused specifically on education at all levels are:

-The Beethoven Project Master Class Series: a program being developed for intermediate to advanced musicians.

-The Beethoven Project Lecture Series: a program of informative lectures by scholars and other passionate experts or amateurs on many different aspects of the Beethoven experience.

-The Beethoven Project Educational Outreach Series: a program of school and college visits, for short performances and talks about Beethoven, by any performance group of the IBP.

-Beethoven Exhibit: Putting together an exhibit detailing the story of the Beethoven Project Trio, and of main aspects of Beethoven’s life.  This exhibit will go to various locations, campuses, museums, and public spaces over the years.

-Beethoven Information Posters for Schools: To do our part in educating children about Beethoven, the IBP will create engaging posters to put in classrooms and public libraries.

-Youth  Art and Essay Competition, inspired by Beethoven: Because Beethoven is such an inspiring figure in history and in music, we plan to create a yearly competition, with a prize to be determined, for a creative art piece (visual or musical) or essay by a student of high school age or younger, that is inspired by listening to Beethoven’s music and reading about his life.

-A highly comprehensive website, for resource and sharing (including youth version): This is obviously being worked on now.  A more accessible youth version will also be created.

-The Beethoven Project Trio Film Documentary and companion book: A film currently being made by Emmy-award winning filmmaker Mike Cahill, which will retrace the story behind the finding of the world-premiere trio and follow the Beethoven Project Trio at the world premiere in Chicago and during their recording sessions in New York.  The film will include many interviews and some historical background.  A short version will come as a bonus with all purchases of the Beethoven Project Trio recording (coming out March 2010).

-The True Ludwig van Beethoven Story – A feature film and radio series: This important project is in the very early stages of development and search for funding.
